Our founder, Tim Mak, helped start Politico’s defense industry publication in Washington, D.C. While reporting in Ukraine during the war, he realized that Ukraine and Europe needed the same level of detailed coverage.

So we launched The Arsenal to focus on actionable business news – inherently valuable information for our audience, so they can make better decisions.

Tim Mak, a longtime national security journalist and a former U.S. Army medic, leads the team in both journalism and consulting.

Journalism: Within our journalism arm, we produce multiple newsletters per week focused on Ukrainian and European defense technology – new battlefield concepts, in-the-weeds regulatory changes, and evolving tactics.

Custom Consulting Solutions: Our consulting team helps answer thorny questions in the same sector: we help with bespoke research, field surveys, due diligence, battlefield testing, and delegations to Ukraine.
