Over the last 24 hours, a video clip has been circulating on social media showing an Iranian-backed militia using an FPV drone over Victory Base near Baghdad International Airport.
There are indications in the video that the drone is being controlled through a fiber-optic cable link. The video footage shows it inspecting various parts of the base before ultimately flying into a hardened structure.
It circulated first on open source accounts such as OSINTtechnical. iI has since been published by Al Jazeera, which said the Iranian-backed grou Kgataib Hezbollah released it.

The footage should not be surprising to anyone who has been following the war in Ukraine.
But what is surprising is how this drone is able to surveil large parts of an American base without interruption or intervention. It shows how the world’s preeminent military power is wholly unprepared for the next phase of warfare.
The world is changing. Because you’re reading The Arsenal, you’re already one step ahead.
